Position Profile:
The Vice President, Information Services is responsible for information systems and operational management of the information technology department in a multi-channel retail environment. This includes, but is not limited to, enterprise and personal computing hardware systems and software applications, mainframe applications support and programming, networking, telecommunications, and user support services.
Company Interfaces:
* Reports to the Chief Financial Officer
* Works closely with all officers, department heads, and managers including UK division.
Direct Reports: There are four direct reports:
* Director of IS Ecommerce
* Director of Technical Services & Retail Solutions
* Director of Information Services
* Business Intelligence Manager.
Key Performance Measurements:
To be developed upon hire.
General Responsibilities:
1. Develops short- and long-term information system strategies and initiatives consistent with the operations and related requirements of a multi-channel retailer.
2. Evaluate and prioritize all IS projects throughout the company.
3. Recommends and develops system-based business solutions. Plans system applications and assigns staff to develop, test and complete programs. Evaluates effectiveness of programs and offers solutions to enhance effectiveness.
4. Evaluates equipment, software and processes continuously. Recommends changes as appropriate, and supervises their installation.
5. Researches and makes recommendations on hardware and software purchases. Negotiates with vendors on behalf of the company to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
6. Partners with business leaders on the successful implementation of technical solutions. Shares responsibility for not only the successful installation but ultimate success of the solution installed.
7. Directs the day-to-day operations and support of the company's hardware systems, software applications and local area networks, including operation of a single point of contact help desk and preparation of related performance management reports.
8. Develops and maintains information technology internal control policies and procedures, including asset management, software licensing management, data security and disaster recovery.
9. Attracts, trains, retains, develops, and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
10. Develops and administers the information technology departmental budget, including budget analysis, expansion and replacement of equipment.
11. Support corporate office and remote warehouse call center, retail stores, UK division and remote users.
Qualifications Required:
* Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in computer science, engineering or related field is required.
* Ten to fifteen years of proven success in a high tech environment with seven to ten years in a management/supervisory role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience directing associates in a technology-driven environment.
* Experience in Direct Marketing preferred.
* IT customer service experience (i.e. Helpdesk, Call Center) also a plus.
* Effective interpersonal skills to include both written and oral communications.
* Proven ability to analyze and solve problems.
* Proven ability to prioritize and organize.
* Travel required, approximately 10%.
* Proven success in a retail/consumer direct environment is a major plus, but not required.
