Editorial Director, ICapital Insights
Description
The ICapital Insights Editorial Director has editorial responsibility for sponsored research projects conducted by Forbes ICapital Insights, the sponsored research division of Forbes. The ICapital Insights Editorial Director designs research studies in consultation with sponsors; executes quantitative, qualitative, and desk research programs; writes reports; and manages report production. He or she reports to the Director of Forbes ICapital Insights.
Key accountabilities:
Although often these responsibilities are outsourced or otherwise delegated, The director should be prepared to do the following:
Editorial:
-Define study objectives in consultation with research sponsors.
-Prepare materials for quantitative and qualitative research, including executive opinion surveys, interview guides, and desk research.
-Conduct interviews with senior executives.
-Derive narrative story from research programs in support of sponsor's objectives and Forbes ICapital Insights editorial mission.
-Write reports based on findings from research programs. Prepare text, graphics, sidebars, etc. for publication.
-Manage bookmaking process working with design and freelance editorial teams to create high-quality, co-branded reports.
Project management:
-Coordinate the activities of the research, art, marketing, and freelance teams to execute research programs and to publish and promote reports.
-Provide editorial and quality oversight on all research related publications, announcements, and promotions.
-Assign and manage freelance projects to third-party contributors.
Decision rights:
The ICapital Insights Editorial Director has full editorial responsibility for designing and executing research projects. Accordingly, he or she is expected to set timelines, manage freelance and internal resources effectively, and to derive research findings from editorially suitable sources. He or she also contributes to our research methodologies and strategies for developing high quality content.

Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have previous research and writing experience in a journalistic, business consulting or marketing communications capacity. We're looking for someone who has been exposed to a lot of industries and has had experience in Thought Leadership initiatives. This position requires excellent project management skills and demonstrated success managing complex projects simultaneously, working effectively across internal functional teams and external vendor relationships. Exceptional writing, editing and verbal communications skills are required. Our candidates will have the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across a broad spectrum of organizations and with a variety of people, including senior management. Excellent organization and time management skills. Excellent customer services skills; the ability to negotiate with and manage clients. The ability to work effectively in a small team. Application of descriptive statistics. Must have basic productivity tools; strong Excel skills are desirable.
