Job Description
PR Director, Online Wireless
BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Public Relations this position develops and implements communications strategies and programs to support the strategic goals of Playboy’s Online and Wireless businesses. This position serves as a primary contact for trade and consumer press for these businesses both domestically and internationally. This position also assists other divisions with PR efforts when appropriate. The position interacts with multiple departments, all levels of management internally and with an extensive list of media contacts externally.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES
* Manage public relations for Playboy Online and Wireless businesses, including positioning, planning, developing and executing proactive public relations plans.
* Maintain ongoing awareness of industry developments and competitive businesses.
* Proactively pitch and coordinate public relations opportunities as well as publicity campaigns related to special online/wireless initiatives.
* Ensure all business agreements, campaigns, features and promotions are publicized.
* Serve as the primary press liaison for all aspects of the Playboy Online and Wireless businesses. Develop and maintain strong relationships with members of the media across business/consumer categories. Coordinate press opportunities and interviews to ensure a consistent media message.
* Proactively seek speaking opportunities for online/wireless management that would serve to further business goals.
* Organize and coordinate special events as needed, including press luncheons, conferences and speaking opportunities.
* Write all necessary press materials including pitches, press releases, media tip sheets, Q&A’s, prep sheets and executive bios.
* Develop and maintain a vast number of media lists for press announcements and special events.
* Maintain ongoing dialog with management regarding the businesses in order to identify optimal public relations opportunities. Keep abreast of overall company-wide goals, objectives, strategies and activities.
* Assist with press conferences and Company events, as needed. Represent Playboy and escort senior executives to press meetings, speaking opportunities or other events as necessary.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
College degree in journalism or equivalent, with five to seven years of public relations experience. Media/publishing/online experience preferred. Strong communication, writing/editing skills and project management experience necessary as well as passion for the media industry. Person must be able to work well under pressure and juggle a wide range of project assignments while maintaining a high level of work quality.
